high-performance PCIe solid-state accelerators have been integrated into AMAX Information Technologies' PHAT-Data40G (Peta-Scale Hadoop Analytics Technology) platform, a Hadoop appliance.
PHAT-Data40G is a turnkey solution that provides Hadoop users with ideal performance and ease-of-use. Combining four of STEC's 980GB low-latency, high throughput enterprise-class PCIe accelerators with Mellanox's 40GbE network solutions, provides AMAX's Intel Xeon E-based servers with performance characteristics.
When compared with other solutions that use competing PCIe flash devices and using a TeraSort benchmark, PHAT-Data40G is able to sort a 1TB dataset in less than 27 minutes using 5 machines--20 percent faster than previously possible, at about half the PCIe storage cost. PHAT-Data40G also incorporates Zettaset's installation, management, and security tools, providing customers with a unified solution for performance-leading Hadoop acceleration.
"STEC's enterprise-class PCIe accelerators leverage AMAX's latest Intel server technology and Mellanox's high-speed interconnect to provide leading-edge Hadoop performance in less than 12U of rack space," said Keith Brown, STEC's Systems and Software Group Vice President of Product Marketing. "By working closely with our partners, we're able to pull together best-of-class attributes and technologies to develop innovative integrated solutions. Here at Interop we are showcasing a high-performance, easy-to-deploy Hadoop environment that is ideal for organizations that want to get started using Big Data analytics and see how it can impact their business."
Distributed through AMAX Technologies, PHAT-Data40G is a complete Hadoop solution of computation, networking, storage, installation and management tools.
