Carbonite Inc., provider of online backup solutions for consumers and small to medium sized businesses,
unveiled Thursday its new reseller program designed to help its online backup resellers grow their businesses by providing even more value to their clients with data protection and disaster recovery services.
"We see that value-added resellers (VARs) who target small businesses and consumers are currently an underserved market – most online backup services today are either too complicated or expensive for these resellers. The new Carbonite Reseller Program offers an easy-to-manage platform and low-cost pricing structure that is all stamped with Carbonite's signature ease-of-use for resellers and their clients," said Peter Lamson, senior vice president, small business and channels, Carbonite. "Whether a reseller is already competing in the cloud or just entering the large and growing cloud services arena, offering Carbonite online backup in their portfolio will boost their business."
The Carbonite Reseller Program delivers flexible account management tools for its resellers, and arms them with secure, affordable cloud backup that is easy to deploy and to manage for their clients. "This combination helps resellers manage their sales and most importantly, build their book of business," continued Lamson.
With the new Carbonite Reseller Program, cloud backup resellers can now offer Carbonite's complete line of Home and Business solutions – which includes Home, HomePlus and HomePremier for home or home office users, and Business and BusinessPremier for small business users. The complete range of solutions gives Carbonite online backup resellers more options to best meet their clients' varied needs. Another key benefit is that all of the solutions include Carbonite's anytime anywhere access feature enabling clients to access their backed-up content anytime, anywhere.
Carbonite resellers will benefit from a straightforward online platform designed for convenience and responsiveness. Resellers also gain access to a dedicated account management team and a dedicated senior Carbonite customer support team. New account management tools provide flexibility to help resellers easily manage their customer relationships, grow their businesses and maintain a recurring revenue stream.
The key features include complete utility to search for client accounts and view account details, purchase history, storage utilization and contact information, ability to add storage and renew subscriptions for customers, ability to upgrade customers to a higher plan, and weekly email status alerts that notify the reseller of client accounts that need attention.
Resellers that sold Carbonite through the company's previous program will find the added tools and flexibility in the new program help them support their clients and sell more services.
The PC DOCtectives in Marlborough, Massachusetts, has a range of clients, from home technology users to small businesses, and the firm includes Carbonite as a critical component of its maintenance service offering.
Cliff Bodenweiser, president of The PC DOCtectives said, "With other backup systems, you practically have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what's being backed up, and if you ever needed to retrieve files, forget about it. Our clients appreciate that they can easily see what is being protected with Carbonite and knowing that they can actually get it back, and at the end of a disastrous day, so do we."
Benjamin Brewster, owner of Corvallis Technical, an IT management firm for small businesses, said, "Carbonite has become a great profit maker for us. Customers like the continuity they get with continuous backup, and it means that we can provide more continuous, regular service." As Carbonite provides a continuous backup tool, Corvallis Technical has been able to sign up more customers for monthly services, rather than one-time technology implementations, Brewster noted.
Since joining the reseller program, Make It Work, a California-based firm offering in-home and on-site IT services, computer repair, and hard drive recovery, have enjoyed being able to offer backup in a way that's standardized, affordable and effective. Jack Davis, a remote technology consultant for the company, looks forward to even more capability through Carbonite's new reseller program. "We appreciate knowing that we can count on Carbonite. That gives us the ability to take care of our customers and build our business," said Davis.
